On March 30th, SPDB Financial Leasing and BV jointly held the 2023 Maritime Financing Leasing Forum with the theme of "Energy Transformation, Green and Sustainable Development". More than 60 representatives from 18 peer financing leasing companies and senior experts from BV gathered together to discuss low-carbon transformation of shipping energy and financing leasing response strategies. Chen Xiang, Vice President of SPDB Financial Leasing, and Alex Gregg Smith, Senior Vice President of BV Group (President of French Classification Society for North Asia and China), attended the forum and delivered speeches.
Chen Xiang pointed out in the opening speech of the forum that carbon reduction is a common challenge facing the international shipping industry at present, and green is an inevitable trend for the high-quality development of the future shipping industry. In recent years, SPDB Financial Leasing has closely followed the national shipping power strategy, customer-centric, market-oriented, and continued to support domestic high-end shipbuilding. The company will jointly explore strategies to cope with the trend of shipping carbon reduction with its leasing industry, and jointly explore low-carbon transformation Brainstorming and providing suggestions for the development of green shipping.
The forum focused on greenhouse gas emissions reduction and shipping carbon reduction. Senior experts from the French Bureau of Shipping conducted in-depth discussions on a series of hot topics, including alternative fuel for ships, shipping carbon capture, ship leasing in the context of green environmental protection, offshore floating wind power, and the prospects of the merchant ship market. In the group discussion session, representatives from multiple leasing companies engaged in lively discussions on the topics of green transformation of shipping and financial empowerment of green and sustainable development.
